Corrosion Technician/Technologist

Job Summary


The corrosion technician/technologist (CT) is a member of the technical services team and reports to the technical services administrative coordinator.  The CT is responsible for performing assigned technical tasks, including reporting and billing same.  The CT is expected to prepare and deliver written administrative reports including, but not limited to, weekly time sheets, monthly unbilled reports, and quarterly expense reports.  Weekly verbal reports are required at technical staff meetings regarding project status.  The CT is required to maintain the assigned truck, tools and equipment in good working condition in order to perform assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.  Additionally, the CT is expected to recognize and report business development opportunities in a timely manner.

 

Job Knowledge

 

  1. Qualifying Knowledge – The CT position normally requires an associate college degree however, prior work experience could be considered in lieu of a degree.  The CT should exhibit a solid knowledge of corrosion principles as well as cathodic protection (CP) theory and application as well as CP system troubleshooting.  The individual should have or acquire at least a NACE Level 1 or equivalent certification.
  2. Performing Knowledge – The CT must have the ability to interact with co workers, both technical and administrative, in completing, reporting and billing assigned technical tasks.  Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, will be required to coordinate tasks between the company and the client.  The CT should exhibit a general understanding of the various industries using CP services and be able to communicate with mid to upper level management positions in all.  This position requires a self motivated individual able to work effectively alone with little day to day supervision.
  3. Personal Requirements – The CT position demands an individual be in reasonable physical health.  Job requirements include driving long distances, working outside in all weather conditions, operating ATV equipment, climbing over fences and gates, opening gates, as well as walking and standing for extended periods of time.  The individual is expected to maintain his or her NACE certification.

 

Duties

Conduct structure-to-soil potential measurements

Conduct rectifier maintenance inspections and make necessary adjustments

Conduct current requirement testing

Conduct soil resistance measurements

Operate pipe/cable locaters

Operate a high input impedance digital multimeter

Operate a clamp-on amp clamp

Read and follow a map

Correctly and safely use hand and power tools

Cathodic Protection Field Services Specialist

Job Summary

 

The Cathodic Protection Field Services Specialist (CPFSS) is a member of the technical services team and reports to the technical services administrative coordinator (TSAC).  The CPFSS is responsible for performing assigned installation services and technical tasks, including reporting and invoicing same.  The  CPFSS is expected to prepare and deliver written administrative reports including, but not limited to, weekly time sheets, , and  expense reports as required.  Weekly oral reports may be required at technical staff meetings regarding project status.  The CPFSS is required to maintain the assigned truck, tools and equipment in good working condition in order to perform assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.  Additionally, the CPFSS is expected to recognize and report business development opportunities in a timely manner.

Performing Knowledge – The CPFSS must have the ability to interact with co- workers, both technical and administrative, in completing, reporting, and invoicing assigned installation services and technical tasks.  Solid communication skills, both verbal, and written, will be required to coordinate tasks between the company and the client.  The CPFSS should exhibit a general understanding of the various industries using cathodic protection (CP) and gas leakage services and be able to communicate with mid to upper level management positions in all.  This position requires a self motivated individual able to work effectively alone with little day to day supervision.
  3. Personal Requirements – The CPFSS position demands an individual be in reasonable physical health.  Job requirements include driving long distances, working outside in all weather conditions, operating ATV equipment, climbing over fences and gates, opening gates, as well as walking and standing for extended periods of time.  The individual is expected to maintain his or her Texas Driver’s License as well as any NACE certification.
