NACE is a professional organization that represents 20,000 corrosion specialists around the world. “We are very excited about announcing this partnership between American Innovations and NACE because it demonstrates our commitment to an organization which plays such an important role in the corrosion industry,” said Rich Smalling, President of American Innovations. “We believe the new NACE facility will become the leading facility for corrosion-related training and research.” “We are proud to be able to support NACE in this significant effort to increase their educational training capacity,” added Bass Engineering President Clay Brelsford. “Our company has been involved in the corrosion control industry since 1967 and has always supported continuing education for those pursuing a career in this field.” AI and Bass will invest $100,000 in the 15,000 square foot building, which was completed earlier this month. The center will be a resource for teachers and professors of corrosion control programs, and for existing and future training courses by NACE International. The facility includes lab space for pipeline testing, a virtual spray coating lab and a ship ballast corrosion simulator. Tony Keane, executive director of NACE, said the addition to the West Houston campus will host 125 courses in 2009 and certify 2,500 students in corrosion detection and prevention techniques.
